New Building in Urban Context
The Lisburn Square development is significant in that it marks the long-awaited return to Ireland of the continental European idea of the grand
outdoor space - for townspeople to meet in for a drink, a coffee, to buy
something nice or simply to promenade and see and be seen.
The scheme is an example of mixed-use, sustainable urbanism, whereby living, recreation and work space all co-exist within easy walkable distance. 250 car spaces have been accommodated within an underground basement to free up ground floor space for active uses and the creation of a new pedestrian piazza.
