NORTHCOTT SHOPPING CENTRE
The first phase of Northcott Shopping Centre was officially opened on 28th November 2011. It comprises the Tesco F60 store, associated parking, mall and 4no unit shops.
For the overall scheme we developed an E shaped mall with 3no entrances onto the car park. The central entrance was constructed under phase 1, allowing the other two to be completed along with the additional units at a later date.
To give the required ambience in the mall we opted for a fully glazed roof, quality limestone flooring and column casings and bulkhead detailing and lighting. Large format rooflights, clerestorey glazing and wind catchers have been incorporated within the design.
The building envelope comprises Eurobond Rockspan Extra cladding, brickwork and curtain walling and Topdek roofing with Bailey Eaves detailing. Materials were selected to give a quality finish while enabling fast track construction programme to be achieved. Steelwork erection commenced mid July 2011. The building was handed over on 21 11 2011 and was open to the public on 28 11 2011. The Medicare Unit opened two weeks later.
Phase 2 is expected to commence later this year.
