Thirty two GE 1.5MW wind turbines, with 65m hub height and 70m blade diameter are dotted across the agricultural farmland area close to Cootehill, Co. Cavan. Prior knowledge of the site from work undertaken for the developer assisted in the development of detailed design for the civil engineering works on behalf of the Civil Contractor. Designs for 14km of access tracks, public road improvements, culverts, substations, turbine and met mast foundations were all provided, together with 15 No. junction/sightline improvements, along with the widening of some 3km of existing public roads.
We were involved in various stages of the development, including, Geotechnical Investigations, a Hydro/Geo Environmental Assessment Report, preparation of turbary plot maps and acting as Design Consultant to Lagan Construction for the detailed design of turbine foundations, roadworks, drainage and ancillary works.
