COOMACHEO WINDFARM
WDR & RT Taggart provided specialist geotechnical services, including a peat stability assessment, to Airtricity (now SSE Renewables) for the deep, poor quality peat conditions.
We were then appointed to provide the civil engineering design of floated roads, bridges and culverts, turbine and met mast foundations, borrow pit re-instatement and sub-station to the Civil Contractor. The project consisted of eighteen Siemens 2.3MW wind turbines, with 68.3m hub height and 82.4m blade diameter to provide power to the National Grid, increasing Ireland’s electrical generation from renewable sources.
