MAGHERY CANAL BRIDGE

Maghery Cut connects the mouth of the River Blackwater to Lough Neagh and forms part of the Ulster Canal which was abandoned in 1931. The existing bridge across Maghery Cut, onto Derrywarragh Island, provided insufficient headroom to allow restoration of the canal for use by leisure craft.

We initially carried out a Feasibility Study for a replacement canal bridge and then undertook the detailed design and subsequent contract administration and construction supervision stages.

The scheme also included the realignment of approximately 200m of road which was raised by up to 3m over the bridge.
