ANDERSON'S CROSSING OVERBRIDGE
Following a risk assessment study of all existing accommodation level crossings throughout the Northern Ireland Railways network, Translink have commenced a programme of accommodation crossing closures and consolidation. At Anderson's Crossing, near Cullybackey, access over the track is to be maintained by an overline accommodation bridge in place of the level crossing.
We were appointed as Consulting Engineers and Planning Supervisor for the scheme, which was completed at a capital cost of £420k.
The design solution comprises composite prestressed concrete TY beam deck, with precast parapet edge beams, supported on concrete panel faced reinforced earth abutments, which ensured that normal train services were maintained at all times during the construction period. The scheme also included the construction of approach embankments, a concrete access road and various accommodation works.
