WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY AT DRUMMEE, ENNISKILLEN
The £1.4M Drummee Waste Management Facility is located within the site of a former limestone quarry on the B81 Road between Enniskillen and Derrygonnelly. It was developed as a 'state of the art' recycling and waste treatment centre for household waste. WDR & RT Taggart provided civil engineering, structural engineering and architectural detailed design services to Fermanagh District Council in respect of the following elements:
- 1,280 sq.m portal steel framed building to house a reception area for civic amenity recyclables and a dry recyclable waste storage and sorting area.
- 9,500 sq.m of concrete hardstandings, 5m high reinforced concrete retaining walls, storm and foul drainage with interceptors, 2 No. weighbridges, office, wheelwash, external skip area and safety railings.
- Reinforced concrete 'above ground' tanks for the storage and treatment of leachate from the adjacent landfill site, including associated leachate pumping mains and control building.
