This commission involved the extension and conversion of the existing Bowling Pavilion to accommodate a variety of leisure activities and provide a community focal point. The six acre park provides areas for active and passive recreation, informal play & seating areas, and pedestrian path linkages to the wider pedestrian network (all DDA compliant). During the design process we liaised with club members and the local community to ensure the creation of an attractive and diverse environment that provides opportunities for all to participate in activities or relax and enjoy events in a safe environment. The scheme included the creation of an IFA Intermediate grassed pitch, secondary grassed pitch and training area, upgrade of existing tennis courts to provide MUGA facilities, kick-about areas and furnished children’s play area, a woodland trail, new pedestrian paths, bollard and flood lighting, fencing, railings, seating, bins, and new planting to bolster the existing buffer planting. This project displays extensive use of recycled materials and sustainable technologies.
