As Senior Partner, Stephen leads the highly experienced and dynamic
multi-disciplinary team of WDR & RT Taggart. Stephen joined
WDR & RT Taggart in 1983 and has been involved in the design and
delivery of major civil engineering schemes, with particular expertise in
highway and railway structures, water and wastewater treatment

Joe Duffy (Architecture) - Associate


Dip Arch Tech

Joseph joined the company in 2005 and in 2006 wasmade associate.
He has over 12 years experience as a Technologist and Project Co-ordinator working in the healthcare, retail and residential sectors.
Joseph has excellent Technical capabilities combined with sound team working and project management skills.

Gerry Lavery (Civil Engineering)- Associate

Gerry joined the practice in 1984 as a Resident Engineer and has gained almost 26 years experience in the field of water engineering.

Edgar Patterson (Architecture) - Associate


MICW

Edgar acts as Quality Manager for WDR & RT Taggart, inspecting
the construction of many wide ranging and varied contracts.
His portfolio includes Belfast's Hilton Hotel, The Marshes Shopping
Centre Dundalk, St. Annes Square Belfast and Belfast's Waterfront Hall.
He is currently supervising the construction of the multi-million pound
mixed-use development, Riverside Place in Kendal.

Duncan Jamieson (Architecture) - Associate


BA (Hons), Arch Dip, Arch PCL, RIBA

Duncan has focused on the retail sector for the last ten years, with involvement in a number of shopping centres within the province. Currently he is Project Architect on a landmark retail / residential development in the Lake District town of Kendal.

Simon Wells (Civil Engineering) - Associate

Simon joined Taggarts in 2000, Simon has worked on a diverse range of Civil Engineering Infrastructure projects, including pedestrian/cyclist footbridges, railway schemes for Translinkincluding bridge replacements, accommodation works and feasibility studies, Water and Wastewater treatment works, Retail Parks, Road works, drainage and accessroads for Wind Farms, Culvert & Pipeline Diversion and rehabilitation, Temporary Works, Environmental Improvement Schemes, Schools and Sports Centres.
Simon has also undertaken and is actively involved in a number of Environmental assessments of construction projects using BREEAM, CEEQUAL and bespoke versions of same and is a qualified CEEQUAL assessor.

Kenneth Walker (Architecture) - Associate


BSc Arch, Diploma in Architecture

Ken joined Taggarts in 1989 and have been a project architect on a number of major shopping centre developments, together with a wide variety of industrial, leisure, commercial and housing projects.

Keith Trimble (Civil Engineering) - Associate

Keith manages the delivery of civil structures-related project ranging from bridges and retaining walls to treatment works and wind farms.

Georgina Mullen (Architecture) - Associate

Georgina has been an Associate since 2007 and has extensive experience working in both the public and private sectors throughout Ireland. Since joining the practice Georgina has worked on many local authority projects including the new Civic Offices for Antrim Borough Council and the refurbishment of Mossley Pavilion for Newtownabbey Borough Council. She is currently working on the new council offices for Down District Council and also Monaghan Town Council.

Graeme has a wide experience in a range of engineering projects,with specific experience in the retail, education, offices and renewable energy sectors.

John Hull (Architecture) - Associate

John has over 15 years experience working as project architect on predominantly large commercial / retail developments including the recently completed The Marshes shopping centre in Dundalk. He also has prior expertise in residential, office and leisure projects.
John has an interest in the thermal efficiency of buildings and associated environmental issues and brings project management skills to assist in the delivery of quality buildings on time and within budget.

Mervyn Devine (Structural Engineering) - Associate

Mervyn Devine has over thirty years experience in the construction industry and has been involved in the design and supervision of many structural projects including retail and leisure complexes, swimming pools, multi storey car parks, schools and hospital buildings.
Recent projects are the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology at Queens University, Antrim Borough Council Offices, Abbeycentre Shopping complex extension and the refurbishment of Marks and Spencer Ltd Belfast .

Trudy Harbinson (Planning) - Associate

Trudy has over 10 years experience in the private town planning consultancy sector covering all aspects of development planning and control. Trudy's typical roles include lead planning consultant, project manager of multi-disciplinary design teams and expert planning witness.

John Kirkpatrick (Health & Safety)- Associate


NEBOSH, MaPS, CMIOSH

John joined the Practice in 1996, and has 20 years experience as a professional Health and Safety advisor, trainer and manager in a complex multi-disciplinary environment. He leads the Health and Safety team on a series of high-profile projects ranging from retail and leisure to large-scale civil and structural schemes.

David Hooper (Civil Engineering)- Associate

David is responsible for the Wastewater team David has extensive experience in the provision of design and contract stage services for new and replacement sewerage schemes including pipelines, pumping stations and WwTW's. He also has extensive experience in the preparation of Drainage Area Plans, appraisal and feasibility studies.

Recent schemes for NI Water include Project Management of the new
Enniskillen WwTW under NEC conditions of contract, Design and contract management of the Aldergrove Trunk Sewer Ph 3,and Civil design co-ordinator for the Moygashel WwTW Improvements constructed as a design and build contract under NEC 3.

Keith Harbinson (Architecture) - Associate

Keith has over 15 years experience as a project architect, predominantly specializing in high specification office developments and large scale mixed use projects, he has recently overseen the completion of the Soloist office development, a prestigious flagship office development located beside the Waterfront Hall in Lanyon Place, Belfast.

George Callen (Civil Engineering) - Associate


BSc, CEng, MICE, MCIWEM, MInstWM, MIIE(Mech)

George Joined the Practice in 1975 and has worked on numerous Waste Management Schemes including sewerage, wastewater treatment and solid waste disposal. Is currently involved in the Closure Works and landfill gas management at Dargan Road Landfill for Belfast City Council.
In the last 15 years he has also been responsible for all Outdoor Sports Surfaces and facilities designed by the Practice.

 

Des Lynas (Architecture) - Partner

Des was made Partner in 2006. He has a background in education, religious and residential projects throughout Ireland.
He has recently been responsible for the major redevelopment at
Abbeycentre and Marks & Spencer at Newtownabbey.
Des has an extensive portfolio throughout the UK & Ireland in the
commercial, retail, church and youth sectors, as well as expanding
into the sport and leisure arena.

Alan Simpson (Architecture) - Partner


Alan Joined the Practice of WDR & RT Taggart in 1975 and was made
Partner in 2001. He specialises in the retail market / environment,
having worked with many of the High Street retailing Companies in
New-Build, Refurbishment and Fit-out projects throughout Ireland.
He is currently undertaking a number of new build and
refurbishment developments for Tesco.

John McFadden (Structural Engineering) - Partner

John graduated in Civil Engineering but has specialised in Structural Engineering since joining WDR & RT Taggart in 1978. He has been responsible for a wide range of building structures including the 14-storey BT Tower in Belfast, and numerous fast-track retail centres including the Buttercrane Centre, Newry. As Partner from 2000, he has more recently concentrated on the Health and Education sectors.

Tommy Stevenson (Civil & Structural Engineering) - Partner

Tommy has been involved in the delivery of a wide range of Civil Engineering Projects including railway works, bridge works, wastewater treatment works, highways and civil infrastructure schemes.
He leads the civil Engineering Department and is currently involved in the £100M Belfast Tunnel Project.

Johnny Allen (Architecture/ Project Management/

Johnny joined WDR & RT Taggart in 1994 becoming Partner in 2004. He has a strategic business role within the practice and with his credentials in Architectural Practice and Management, Johnny also brings a planning and value engineering proficiency to his commissions. He has been involved in various architectural projects and has exceptional experience in the retail sector where he is renowned for his ability to deliver complex schemes to fast-track programmes.

Colin Shaw (Architecture / Masterplanning) - Partner


BSc (Hons) QUB Dip Arch Edin.

Colin has a background in conservation projects in Edinburgh and Northern Ireland. He joined the company in 1988 and was made Partner in 2000.
He has recently led the masterplanning work on Lanyon Place, Belfast, and was Project Architect on the BT Tower and other commercial projects of associated with the development. He is currently involved with large urban regeneration and commercial projects, and is a strong advocate for sustainability and DDA issues.

Kieran Beggan (Architecture / Masterplanning /
Planning) - Deputy Senior Partner

Kieran leads the Architectural section of WDR & RT Taggart in his role as Deputy Senior Partner.
Kieran joined WDR & RT Taggart in 1998 and currently manages a dedicated design team with a varied portfolio of work focused on both the public and private sectors.
Recent projects include New Civic Offices for Antrim and Down Councils, New Hockey Club redevelopment at Lisnagarvey, and several major retail projects in the west of the province and the Republic of Ireland.

John has been a Partner since 2001 and specialises in medium- to large-scale (retail- and residential-led) mixed-use urban developments.
John emphasises the importance of design in strengthening local character and respecting the unique qualities of places. In 2004, he achieved membership of the prestigious international INTBAU College of Traditional Practitioners.
