ENNISKILLEN INTEGRATED PRIMARY SCHOOL

After a number of years in portable building accommodation, Enniskillen Integrated Primary School now has a first class permanent 8 Classroom facility on a spectacular site which is elevated on a hillside overlooking Lough Erne.

The Design uses the natural ground contours to provide good daylight and views across the lough, and to provide the taller accommodation rooms with access at a lower level, without unduly interrupting the skyline in this scenic location.

The School was opened by the Guest of Honour, Mr Brian Kennedy, who remarked on the excellent buildings, within an open, bright and secure environment which is conducive to primary age learning and development.

The school is constructed essentially in load-bearing brickwork, with steel beams and posts to provide additional support where necessary. A major reinforced concrete retaining wall enables the lower level hall and kitchens, and the lower entrance, to be accommodated. Externally, new car parking and bus pick up/drop off areas were planned to be adjacent to the access road, and not to obstruct the views to the lough. The total expenditure was approximately £2.3m
