The Project comprises of the design and construction of a new build Mountain Centre of iconic form and floor area of approximately 2,300sqm to replace the existing Centre and still set within Tollymore Forest. The roof is finished in Copper Art membrane and is curved in 3 dimensions. The roof structure comprises of glued laminated timber beams which are supported on a combination of steel frame and rear wall, and provides the roof over the entire meeting area (3-storey height space), the 3-storey training area and residential accommodation areas. A full lower ground area extends beyond the superstructure and houses changing rooms, shower facilities, roll pool for canoe training and various other rooms necessary for the function of the Centre. The project includes the demolition of the existing Centre together with all the new site works, landscaping and drainage. WDR & RT Taggart provided structural and civil engineering services.
