Planning permission was obtained within six months of submission for this new school on a greenfield site on the outskirts of Downpatrick - this will replace the existing Down High School where the site does not allow for the expansion and modernisation needed. This project involved extensive pre-application discussions with numerous statutory consultees including Road Service and NIEA.
Praising the level of negotiation between WDR & RT Taggart and Planning Service, Strategic Projects Team & Environment Minister Edwin Poots noted "This is another fine example of what can be gained from engaging in pre-application discussions where key issues can be identified at an early stage, allowing the application to pass through the statutory planning process quickly."
