Donard Drome, Donard Park Newcastle, Co. Down

As part of the provision for Elite Sport Facilities for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012, WDR & RT Taggart has teamed up with Down District Council to make a bid for the Northern Ireland National Cycling Velodrome Centre. Nestling in the foothills of Slieve Donard, the velodrome is located within the grounds of Donard Park.

The masterplan for Donard Park provides a new cycling velodrome with internal multi purpose sports activities, speedway cycling, bmx track, mountain bike track, grass & all weather pitches, cafes and leisure facilities.

A decision on the preferred bid will be announced in Autumn 2007.
