The story of layla by eric clapton including the meaning of the lyrics, how the song was written, and much more.
Layla was one of the tracks on their first and widely acclaimed album, layla and other assorted songs
The song is about the woman he loves Beatles guitarist george harrison’s wife, pattie. The title of the song comes from a poem layla and majnun by the persian poet nezami ganjavi, and eric clapton wrote it about pattie boyd, george harrison's wife at the time Layla, laylah, or leila mean night of dark beauty in some of the languages in middle east.
This is not a tale of ostentatious displays with diamond rings or grand gestures Instead, the origins of the iconic song “layla” lie in a clandestine narrative, woven in stolen moments, saturated with unrequited longing, and kindled by a flame that society deemed forbidden.
